Are these word search books suitable for people with low vision?
They are designed to be easier to read than standard puzzle books: the grid letters are 20 to 22 point bold, the word lists are 16 point bold, and everything is set in Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface created by the Braille Institute to make letters easier to tell apart. Every person's eyesight is different, so we suggest printing one of our free sample puzzles first to check that the size works for the person you are buying for.
How big are the letters?
Easy puzzles use 22 point bold capital letters (about 5 mm tall) and Medium and Challenging puzzles use 20 point bold (about 4.7 mm). The word list beside each grid is 16 point bold. Puzzle titles are 22 point. The Did You Know? and Memory Lane lines are 16 point (14 to 15 point on a few crowded pages).
Are the solutions included?
Yes. Full solutions for all 90 puzzles are at the back of each book, six per page, with every hidden word shaded. Each puzzle page tells you which page its answer is on.
How hard are the puzzles?
Each book has three levels of 30 puzzles. Easy puzzles are 13 x 13 grids with 15 words that run only across and down. Medium puzzles are 15 x 15 grids with 18 words that can also run diagonally. Challenging puzzles are 15 x 15 grids with 20 words that can run in any direction, including backwards.
What size are the books?
Every book is a full-size 8.5 x 11 inch (21.6 x 27.9 cm) paperback with 110 pages, black print on white paper, and one puzzle per page.
Is there a gift page?
Yes. The first pages include a gift page with To, From, Date and a few lines for a personal note.
Can I photocopy pages for my household?
Yes. As our copyright page says, the puzzles are for personal use and photocopying pages for your own household use is welcome. Please do not copy pages for sale or for distribution outside your home.
Where can I buy Honeykite Press books?
Our books are sold as paperbacks on Amazon. Each book page on this site links straight to it on Amazon.com, where the price is $11.99. We do not sell books directly from this website.
Can I buy them outside the United States?
Yes. Amazon prints these paperbacks on demand and sells them in most of its stores, including the UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and Japan. Prices are set in local currency. Search your local Amazon store for the book title or its ISBN.
Are the books available as eBooks or in spiral binding?
Not at the moment. They are paperbacks only, because word searches are meant to be circled with a pencil or marked with a highlighter. Paperbacks do not lie completely flat, so a book weight or clip can help.
